Northwestern Lehigh: Lehigh Valley League Softball Tryouts for the 2010
season will be held on Saturday 9/26 at the Northwestern Recreation Fields, Field #7.
Anyone who is planning on playing at this level for Northwestern next year
must attend the tryout
10 and under 1pm to 3pm
12 and under 3pm to 5pm

NYAA softball sponsors a comprehensive program that provides a positive environment and recognizes the diverse interests of the participants.
Fundamentals and skill development is the primary focus at an early age. This focus continues as players progress through the program. There are different competitive levels offered to accommodate the interest, dedication, and ability of the individual player.
Three Levels of Player Participation:
v Instructional or Prep Level � Registration Fee $75
The primary focus is on having fun while learning the basic fundamentals of the game. This program is designed for entry level players to learn the basics of the game. If your child is born in 2003, 2002, or 2001 this is the program they should participate in. If your child is born in 2000, they have the option to play at the prep level or play at the 10 and under level if they have the ability. Anyone born in 2000 is welcome to tryout for a 10 and under team, but the ultimate decision of where they play will be made by the coaches.
v Recreational Level/Parkland League � Registration Fee $90
The primary focus continues to be on enhancing skills while introducing competition and teamwork. This league is a recreational league and will play other recreational teams from Parkland, Whitehall, Catasauqua, and Northern Lehigh. We hope to have teams participating at the following levels in the Parkland League: 10 and under, 12 and under, and 14 and under. Competition, while not as intense as the Lehigh Valley League, is still a big component of this league. The head coach, based on ability and performance of players during practice sessions, will assign field positions. If you are a member of a tournament travel team, such as the Flames, you cannot participate in this league. Starting in the 2008 season the Parkland League created two divisions within each age group when possible. Players will be assigned according to the division which best suits their abilities.
v Travel Level/Lehigh Valley League � Registration Fee $90
The primary focus is to refine softball skills for players interested in playing higher-level competitive softball. The Lehigh Valley League is a competitive travel league for our best players. The games are played across the Lehigh Valley. Tryouts for this level will be required and positions will be assigned based upon ability. (We hope to have teams participating at the following levels: 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, and possibly 18 and under.)

*Your year of birth determines the program in which you should participate.
18 and under (1990-1991)
16 and under (1992-1993)
14 and under (1994-1995)
12 and under (1996-1997)
10 and under (1998, 1999, and 2000 depending on ability)
I would recommend every girl that really loves softball should tryout for the travel team at her age level. Your daughter will receive extra workouts and extra instruction. If she does not make the travel team, she will know where she needs to improve to make the team in the future. Each year we run tryouts for the Lehigh Valley teams and all are welcome.
My goal as director is to provide an environment where your child can reach her potential. To achieve this goal it is best to keep the number of players per team at a relatively low level if possible. This means that your child will receive as much attention as possible. To achieve this ideal situation will require many volunteers. You do not need to be an expert to play a role in helping your child and their team.
